Teaching Philosophy & Methods
My teaching philosophy revolves around a student-centered, communicative approach to language acquisition. I firmly believe that language is a tool for connection, not just a subject to be memorized. To achieve this, my core technique is to deliberately minimize Teacher Talk Time (TTT) and maximize student production. I utilize the PPP (Presentation, Practice, Production) framework, incorporating interactive digital slides, visual aids, and realia to make abstract concepts concrete and engaging without relying on heavy lecturing.
Typical Lesson Plan
A standard 50-minute lesson is highly structured to maintain energy and focus:
Warm-up (5 mins): An active, low-stakes game or greeting to get students comfortable using English immediately.
Presentation (10 mins): Introducing the target grammar or vocabulary using contextual examples and digital media, keeping instructions short and clear.
Controlled Practice (15 mins): Pair work, choral repetition, or structured worksheets where students practice the new language mechanics.
Production (15 mins): An open-ended communicative task, such as an interview activity, role-play, or presentation, where students use the language autonomously.
Review & Wrap-up (5 mins): Highlighting great student performance and consolidating the day's key takeaways.
