Hello, I’m Rashad, an American English teacher who has lived and worked in Japan for over fifteen years. I started teaching in 2010 and have taught students of nearly every age and level: elementary and high school classes, university courses, and one-on-one lessons with working adults. I hold a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Second Language Acquisition from Temple University, a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from California State University, Sacramento, and a TESOL certificate.

Over the years I have designed TOEIC and communication courses, coached professionals on TOEFL speaking, and presented my work on student goal-setting at teaching conferences in Japan. Living and working in Japan has taught me what Japanese learners find difficult about English, and I use that experience to make lessons practical, patient, and clear. I look forward to helping you reach your goals.

I have been teaching English in Japan since 2010, and I hold a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Second Language Acquisition, plus a TESOL certificate. My lessons are designed for working adults, university students, and exam takers who want to speak English with more confidence.

Every course begins with your goals. In the first lesson, we talk about what you need, whether that is meetings and presentations, interviews, or a target score on TOEIC or TOEFL speaking. From there, a typical lesson includes a short warm-up conversation, focused practice on real situations or exam tasks, and clear, friendly feedback on accuracy and fluency. I correct mistakes gently, then we use discussion and presentation practice to build natural speaking.

Over the years I have taught at high schools, universities, and in one-on-one adult lessons, so I can adapt to any level, from beginners to advanced learners. I can also explain difficult points in Japanese when it helps. My goal is a relaxed space where mistakes are part of learning, and where you can see your progress lesson by lesson.
