Meiさんについて
Hello! I’m Mei.
I’m currently teaching beginner-level students at a Japanese language school in Japan. Before returning to Japan, I taught at a Japanese language school overseas for three years, both online and in person. Many of my students were preparing to travel to Japan or start a new life here.
I’m an open-hearted person and I love hearing people’s stories, ranging from their daily lives and experiences to hobbies and how they spend their weekends. There is always plenty of laughter and joy in my lessons, and I hope this can help my students feel more comfortable and welcome to speak Japanese.
My Story
I love traveling and have visited more than 30 countries. I also spent 18 years living overseas, where I raised my daughters.
Living abroad taught me both the joy of connecting with local people and the challenges of adapting to life in another country.
Of course, you can travel or live abroad without speaking the local language. But I discovered that learning even a tiny bit of their language can completely change your experience. It helps you connect with people, understand everyday life more deeply, and discover things about the country and its culture that you could have never found in guidebooks or social media.
During my years abroad, I met so many wonderful people and received a lot of kindness and support. After returning to Japan, I wanted to do the same for people coming here, helping them feel more comfortable, connect with local people, and enjoy their life in Japan even more through the language.
That’s why I decided to continue teaching Japanese, both online and in a Japanese language school in Japan.
My Hobbies and Dream
One of my dreams is to open a small guesthouse in my hometown, Hokkaido, where I am dreaming to meet and welcome people from around the world. I wish to connect with them through introducing our languages, food and local experiences, while learning theirs too.
I hope that learning Japanese will help make your time in Japan more enjoyable and meaningful, and give you more opportunities to connect with the people around you.

My Teaching Style
- In my lessons, you will do most of the talking
- We don’t just memorize phrases. We learn the grammar behind them so you can create your own sentences
- Each lesson follows four simple steps:
1. Learn the situation.
2. Learn the grammar and vocabulary.
3. Practice through conversation.
4. Personalize the conversation and talk about yourself.
Mistakes are welcome! Speaking is the fastest way to improve ;)
