Hello! My name is Kana, and I am a Japanese language teacher from Japan.
I have passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test (日本語教育能力検定試験), a professional examination for Japanese language education in Japan.
I have experience teaching Japanese online to both children (ages 10 and up) and adults, from beginners to intermediate learners. I have worked with students with different goals, including everyday conversation, grammar, reading, textbook-based study, and JLPT preparation.
As a teacher, I believe that every student learns differently. Some students enjoy conversation, while others feel more comfortable when they first understand the grammar and structure clearly. I always try to listen carefully to each student and adjust my lessons to their level, goals, interests, and learning style.
I especially enjoy seeing the moment when something that once seemed difficult suddenly makes sense, and when a student is able to use a new expression naturally in conversation.
Learning Japanese takes time, and making mistakes is an important part of the process. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, trying new expressions, and learning at their own pace.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals, and learning pace.
Rather than simply memorizing grammar and vocabulary, I help students understand how and why Japanese expressions are used and give them plenty of opportunities to use what they have learned in real conversation. My goal is to create a relaxed and friendly environment where students feel comfortable speaking Japanese and are not afraid of making mistakes.
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previously learned material, followed by new grammar or vocabulary. We then practice through exercises and conversation so that students can gradually use new expressions with confidence. When needed, I also prepare original exercises and materials based on each student’s strengths and areas that need more practice.
I can use textbooks such as *Genki* and *Minna no Nihongo*, and lessons can also include conversation practice, grammar, reading, and JLPT preparation depending on your goals. If something is difficult to understand in Japanese, I can provide additional explanations in English.
Beginners are very welcome, as well as intermediate learners who would like to continue developing their Japanese skills. I also teach children ages 10 and up.
My aim is not only for you to think, “I understand!” but also to experience the joy of saying, “I can say it in Japanese!”
