I'm Yumiko and a native Japanese tutor born and raised in Japan.
I've been an interpreter for over ten years, and currently work for an IT company as an in-house interpreter. I've taught Japanese/English interpretation and translation to English speakers for three years as well.
One of my passions in life is to learn about different cultures around the world, so I'm excited to meet you all and get to know about your cultures here!
I like cooking, baking, eating, swimming, hiking, watching movies, and reading.
My lessons will be good for beginners, business Japanese learners, and advanced learners who want to improve their speaking.
In trial lessons, I will ask you about your goal and expectations for me so I can propose a course that meet your requirements and customize lessons for you accordingly.
As using Japanese a few times a week in class is not enough to make substantial progress, I will give you some homework to help with your-self study outside class and prepare you for the next lesson with me.
You might be feeling terrified of the homework, but don't worry! I'm here to make your learning experience as fun as possible!! Let's enjoy it together!!
What I value is to connect with people with different cultural backgrounds. I'm hoping to give my lessons in a way that my students will be able to actually feel how amazing it is to communicate with and make yourselves understood by people from different cultures!

- Lesson content: Learn different methods of interpretation training. Shadowing/paraphrasing and consecutive interpretation of audio materials and sight translation of articles.
