こんにちは！Konnichiwa️:)
I’m Risa, a certified native Japanese teacher based in Tokyo. I've been teaching students from various backgrounds both online and face-to-face in Tokyo.
With a background in marketing and international business development, I spent several years living in Thailand and Singapore. As a language learner myself, I know learning a new language can be challenging, but it is truly life-changing. It has broadened my horizons!
Inspired by how language learning changed my own life, after passing the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test, I began my journey as a teacher to help my students open new doors through Japanese.

TAILORED JAPANESE LESSON

Every lesson is tailored to your level, goals, and interests. During the free trial lesson, we'll discuss your objectives and create a learning plan that works best for you.
I speak upper-intermediate English, so whether you're a complete beginner or still building confidence in Japanese, you're very welcome to join my lessons.
Here are some examples of what we can do together:
【Conversation Practice】
Talk about your daily life, recent events, or news topics. If you can't express something in Japanese yet, you can say it in English, and I'll help you learn how to say it naturally in Japanese while expanding your vocabulary and grammar.
【Grammar from Scratch】
Learn Japanese grammar step by step with clear explanations in English when needed. We'll then practice using each grammar point through conversations and role-plays.
【JLPT Preparation】
Review a few grammar points in every lesson, create your own example sentences, and practice using them in real conversations to help you remember them naturally.
【Japanese for Travel】
Prepare for your trip to Japan by practicing useful expressions based on your itinerary and the situations you'll actually encounter.
My lessons focus on communication. If you'd like to use a textbook, I'm happy to do so, but it's not necessary. I prepare lesson notes for you, so you can focus on speaking during class instead of taking notes. After each lesson, I'll send you a summary of what we learned, including new vocabulary, grammar, and useful expressions.
I believe consistency is the key to language learning, and the best way to stay consistent is to enjoy the process. My goal is to make each lesson something you look forward to as part of your daily life.
