Hi, I’m Uni! I’ve loved manga since childhood, and I love both cooking and eating. Let’s enjoy friendly conversations about your favorite stories and foods. BL manga fans are welcome, too!
I taught home economics in Japanese high schools for over 10 years, covering food habits, nutrition, Japanese food and meal planning. I also have experience supporting foreign residents with everyday Japanese conversation.
MANGA
We can read a short scene from a manga you have legally purchased, on paper or digitally. We’ll explore words and nuances that are hard to understand through translations, characters’ feelings and their relationships. You’re also welcome to have conversations about your favorite manga and characters.
JAPANESE FOOD
We can explore Japanese recipes and cooking vocabulary, discuss eating habits and meal planning, or review your everyday food habits together. Friendly conversations about your favorite Japanese dishes are welcome, too.
Beginners are welcome. We can practise hiragana, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation or reading at a pace that fits your level and goals. Intermediate and advanced learners can explore the finer nuances of dialogue.
Lessons are mainly in Japanese, with English support whenever you need it.

What is your favorite Japanese food? Enjoy friendly conversations about sushi, ramen, tempura or another dish you love. Learn cooking vocabulary, ingredients, recipes and cooking steps. You do not need to cook during every lesson. Beginners are welcome.
I’m Uni, a former home economics teacher in Japanese high schools with over 10 years of experience. Lessons are mainly in Japanese, with English support whenever you need it.
