●About Me
I worked as a private tutor for four years, helping students learn and understand new things.
My husband is from Chile and is also learning Japanese.
Because I see his Japanese learning journey every day, I understand the challenges Japanese learners often face, such as:
I understand it, but I can’t speak.
This grammar is difficult.
I know what I want to say, but I can’t find the words.
I’m also learning English and Spanish, so I understand both the fun and the challenges of learning a foreign language, as well as the fear of making mistakes.
I communicate with my husband in English, so I can also have everyday conversations in English.
If you are a complete beginner and don’t understand much Japanese yet, I can support you in English when necessary, so you can feel comfortable in your lessons.

Hi, I’m Yurika, a Japanese tutor from Fukuoka, Japan.
I have 4 years of experience teaching students as a private tutor, and I’ve taught 260+ hours of Japanese lessons.
I mainly help complete beginners and elementary-level learners build confidence through practical Japanese and lots of speaking practice.

You don’t need to speak perfect Japanese.
It’s okay to make mistakes.
It’s okay to forget words.
It’s okay to try again.
If you know what you want to say but don’t know how to say it in Japanese, we’ll work it out together. Then you’ll try saying it again.
By repeating this process, you can gradually move from understanding Japanese to actually speaking it.
One of my students started learning Japanese from zero with me and, after just three months, was able to talk in Japanese about what they did today and what they were going to do tomorrow.

I’m from Fukuoka and currently live in Kitakyushu, Japan.
I also lived in Australia for three years, so I understand what it feels like to live in another country and communicate in a different language.
I’m currently learning English and Spanish, so I know that learning a foreign language can be exciting, but also frustrating and sometimes scary.
My husband is also learning Japanese, which has given me firsthand experience of the challenges beginners face when trying to turn words and grammar they know into actual conversation.
