Hello, I’m Kaiaji, a government-certified and registered Japanese teacher. Born in Tokyo lived in London for 6 years and currently based in Nagano, I provide personalized Japanese lessons informed by a broad professional background spanning media, education, and agriculture. This diverse experience allows me to adapt my teaching to learners with different goals, industries, and cultural backgrounds. My lessons go beyond grammar and vocabulary. I place strong emphasis on natural, communicative Japanese, including rhythm, intonation, stress, and breathing, so that learners can speak with clarity and confidence. I teach all levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners seeking fluency, and have extensive experience supporting long-term students. Many of my learners have studied with me for over a year, developing strong skills in conversation, keigo, business Japanese, and written expression. Outside of teaching, I enjoy City Pop, Fujii Kaze, Studio Ghibli films, hot springs, and the seasonal beauty of Nagano. I value creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment where each student can discover their own voice in Japanese. Learners from all backgrounds are welcome—let’s enjoy the learning journey together.

I begin by carefully assessing each student’s current Japanese proficiency and learning goals, and then create a customized lesson plan tailored to their individual needs. My lessons guide students from a solid foundation in basic Japanese to the advanced language skills required to function confidently in social and professional environments. I place strong emphasis on clear, structured explanations, breaking down difficult concepts so that students can truly understand rather than simply memorize. I also identify areas where students struggle and explain them in a patient, accessible manner. In addition, I assign appropriate tasks and practice activities to be completed before the next lesson, ensuring steady progress and long-term retention of skills through continuous learning and review.
