I’m a Japanese conversation partner based in Japan. I graduated from an American university, speak Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean, and I research Japanese history and culture. I’ve also taught English for over 20 years.
The reason I encourage you to learn with me is simple: the biggest barrier is often the fear of making mistakes. In my lessons, mistakes aren’t something to be ashamed of—they’re signposts for progress. I focus first on what you were able to say, then give short, targeted corrections only where they truly help. That way, your conversation keeps flowing, and your confidence grows naturally.
We can talk about anything—from everyday life to deeper topics like literature, philosophy, and history—based on your interests. Our sessions are on Zoom, so it’s easy to start, but the learning is solid and meaningful. Before you know it, you’ll be thinking, “I can express myself better than I used to.”

• Teaching techniques / methods
I use a “question → paraphrase → deepen the topic” approach to increase speaking time naturally. During the session, I give concise, practical feedback on vocabulary choices, pronunciation, and grammar—only where it helps. Lessons are tailored to your goals, whether casual conversation, exams, work, or presentations.
• Typical lesson flow (via Zoom)
Check-in (your day and goals) → Conversation (free talk or a set theme) → Review and refine expressions (more natural wording) → Short practice (paraphrasing / quick sentence building) → Wrap-up (optional light homework for next time)

I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I create a comfortable space where you can speak in Japanese, and I can use English when needed to support understanding. I enjoy a wide range of topics—from everyday life to literature, philosophy, and history—and I adjust the amount of correction to match your pace.
• Who my lessons are for
All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced learners. I work with students and professionals, and I can also help with presentation practice, interview preparation, and academic-style discussion. If you prefer a slower, supportive pace, that’s absolutely fine.
