弦一郎さんについて
I’m currently studying Chemistry at Keio University, where I’m also involved in an international exchange organization. Through this community, I’ve had the chance to meet and become close friends with many international students from a wide range of countries and backgrounds.
As I spent more time with them, I noticed something very clearly: many had studied Japanese before, but what they really lacked was the opportunity to actually use it in real conversations. They often knew the grammar and vocabulary, yet still found it difficult to speak naturally or confidently.
That inspired me to start giving regular Japanese conversation lessons for free to international students I met at Keio. So far, I’ve taught more than 10 students on a regular basis, ranging from complete beginners to more advanced learners. Some could barely hold a conversation in Japanese when we first started, but over time I’ve seen them become much more comfortable speaking, reacting naturally, and enjoying casual conversations in Japanese.
Seeing that progress has been incredibly rewarding and is one of the main reasons I decided to teach more people. I especially enjoy helping learners bridge the gap between the Japanese they study in textbooks and the Japanese they actually hear and use in everyday life.
Because I regularly spend time with international students, I’m also familiar with the challenges learners face when trying to communicate with native Japanese speakers. I aim to be approachable, patient, and easy to talk to, so that learning Japanese feels less like a formal class and more like gaining the confidence to communicate naturally.

Do you understand Japanese but sometimes freeze when it’s time to actually speak? My lessons are designed to help you turn the Japanese you’ve studied into natural, confident conversation.
I’m a native Japanese student at Keio University, and I offer relaxed, personalized one-on-one lessons in cafés around Tokyo and Yokohama. Rather than focusing only on textbooks and grammar exercises, we’ll practice the kind of Japanese you can actually use in everyday life.
Complete beginners are very welcome. You don’t need to speak only Japanese from the beginning. If something is difficult to understand, we can use English when needed and start slowly with practical basics such as greetings, self-introductions, ordering at restaurants, and other useful everyday expressions. If you’re worried about not knowing what to talk about, I can prepare questions and conversation topics for you. The goal is to help you feel comfortable making mistakes and improve at your own pace.
Each lesson is tailored to your level, interests, and goals. We can talk about everyday life, travel, university, work, restaurants, making Japanese friends, hobbies, or anything else you’re interested in. I can also help you with pronunciation, grammar, casual expressions, and the difference between Japanese that is technically correct and Japanese that sounds natural in real conversation.
During the lesson, I’ll correct mistakes and suggest more natural ways to say things without interrupting the flow of the conversation too much. After the lesson, I can also send you a short summary of useful expressions, corrections, and new vocabulary so you know exactly what to review.
These lessons are suitable not only for beginners, but also for intermediate and advanced learners who can read and understand Japanese but still lack confidence when speaking.
There’s no need to prepare anything for your first lesson. We can simply start with a relaxed conversation, talk about your goals, and decide together what you’d like to focus on.
